JUNIOR GOLF CENTER

Our Junior Golf Center, located next to the Dyker Beach public golf course in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, is a comprehensive training facility that offers free instruction and use of equipment for all ability levels. The Center features a 6-hole par 3 course, putting and chipping greens, a driving range, clubhouse and classroom. The Golf Center is open to New York City residents ages 6-17, with lessons held once a week for 7 weeks in Spring, Summer and Fall.

INSTRUCTION LEVELS

SUMMER PROGRAM REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 29

Ages 6 – 17
May – October, Free

BEGINNER PROGRAMS

City Parks Foundation alongside the First Tee of Metropolitan NY will introduce its “TARGET” and PLAYer” curriculum to all beginners. The First Tee is a nationwide youth development organization impacting the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Advancement through The First Tee PLAYer program requires commitment to attendance, as well as completing practice requirements and life skills & golf knowledge assessments.

Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is limited to one class per child.

Please check back mid-May for registration for Summer 2019 classes.

TARGET (Age 6)
For children age 6 who are new to golf. Fun games and contests spark an interest in the game and help develop motor skills needed to play golf.

PLAYer 3 (Ages 7 & 8) New Participants
Introduces 9 core values focusing on respect, courtesy & responsibility. Requires 3 hours of additional practice for each session.

PLAYer 6 (Ages 7 & 8) Returning Beginner Participants
Reinforces core values above and focuses on honesty, sportsmanship & confidence. Requires 6 hours of practice for each session.

PLAYer 9 (Ages 9 & Up) New or Returning Beginner Participants
Reinforces the core values in PLAYER 3 & 6 and introduces judgement, perseverance & integrity. Requires 9 hours of additional practice for each session.

PLAYer 9 PLUS New or Returning Beginner Participants
Reinforces the core values in PLAYER 3 & 6 and introduces judgement, perseverance & integrity. Requires 9 hours of additional practice for each session.

ADVANCED BEGINNER (Ages 8 – 17) – NOT AVAILABLE FOR SPRING 2019
For students who have completed two Beginner sessions at the Junior Golf Center in 2018.

INTERMEDIATE (Ages 8 – 17)
Experienced Junior Golf Center juniors who can demonstrate all the essential golf skills, understand basic rules of golf and are ready to safely play on a course. For participants who pass the Junior Golf Center Advanced Beginner certification.

YOUTH GROUPS

We also accommodate organized camps and youth groups at specific sites if/when space is available and on a “first-come basis.” Check back for 2019 Youth Groups Application.

JUNIOR GOLF ACADEMY

JUNIOR GOLF ACADEMY & TOURNAMENT TEAM
Ages 8 – 17, Free
Summer 2019

Our Academy and Tournament team is for experienced, dedicated NYC junior golfers. They are offered the opportunity to compete in the Met PGA Junior Tour and US Kids Golf junior tournaments.

Summer Academy classes are held at the Junior Golf Center in Brooklyn, Junior Golf Center Annex in Queens and select citywide courses. Open tryouts are held annually in June at the Junior Golf Center. For more information, please call (718) 259-2999.
