Tropical orchestra Puerto Rican Power was formed by bassist Jesús Castro in the early ’70s, but came into its own after adding singer Tito Rojas in 1983. Their albums Canta Tito Rojas, Con Más Poder, and 1992’s Con Todo El Poder (featuring the hit “A Donde Iras”) marked the beginning of a new era in Puerto Rican salsa history. They’re joined by Domingo Quinones, one of the biggest salsa stars in 1990s Puerto Rico, with an intense, high-energy live show that also demonstrates a proficiency in bachata and rumba as well; and Lower East Salsa, a dance party hosted by Lower East Side restaurant Gonzalez y Gonzalez.
