Born in 2009 from the ashes of the Malibu band Simon Dawes after the departure of Blake Mills, Dawes is a folk rock band from the San Fernando Valley that channels the Laurel Canyon sound through the spirit of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Anchored by brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, their raw, rootsy sound has established them as one of Southern California’s premier folk rock bands, equally at home at a protest (Occupy Wall Street) or network television (Parenthood). This fall they’re finally touring in support of their 2020 LP Good Luck with Whatever, joined by Nashville’s Erin Rae, whose Southern sensibility somehow manages to incorporate equal parts Wilco and Françoise Hardy.
