Community partner groups with projects taking place on NYC Parks properties throughout the five boroughs.

*Group members are asked to work together to submit one application per group. 


  • Community groups who have a long-term commitment to their local park(s)

  • Groups that have small budgets, limited resources, and are staffed by volunteers

  • Groups that are embarking on new projects or expanding existing projects

  • Groups and projects devoted to neighborhood parks and street trees that are not supported by other resources (such as large conservancies)

  • Groups that have a strong history of collaborative work with Partnerships for Parks, NYC Parks, and/or City Parks Foundation

  • At least one group member must attend the first fellowship session and a minimum of 3 of the remaining 4 sessions (held weeknights in midtown or downtown Manhattan from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, dates TBD)
  • Develop a project proposal with clear goals and a plan of action

  • Work with Partnerships for Parks to edit project proposals as necessary so they are attainable and challenging (Partnerships for Parks may not be able to support every project as proposed, but will discuss alternative options)
  • Re-examine and update goals when needed
  • Participate in project evaluations
  • Support other fellowship participants with their projects, and be willing to ask for support
The 2019 Fellowship will run from May to September. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a Completion Certificate, and will be honored in late fall at our 2019 Community Connections event. 


Applications must by submitted online by Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 11:59 PM. 

Applicants will be notified about acceptance by Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Accepted groups must have at least one member attend our first session, held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
