PARTNERSHIPS FOR PARKS 30th anniversary

PARTNERSHIPS FOR PARKS TURNS 30 THIS YEAR!

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the largest community engagement program for local parks in NYC, Partnerships for Parks (PfP), a joint program of City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks. PfP has been bringing New Yorkers together across neighborhoods, backgrounds, and sectors to help our shared, local green spaces thrive since 1995.

OUR STORY

Building on the citywide movement of communities reclaiming green spaces that followed the fiscal crisis of the 1970s, and inspired by the conservancies formed in the 1980s to support flagship parks, PfP was founded to bring communities together with city government and private resources to support local parks, specifically. Today, we work with nearly 500 community groups supporting 400 parks and mobilize over 30,000 volunteers annually.

WHAT WE DO

We provide on-the-ground support, tools and supplies, grants, education, and other resources to sustain the living infrastructure of our city. We work to advance equity, access, and neighborhood resilience and help create opportunities for community voices to be heard in the management of local parks. Together, we build long-term investment in public space and strengthen the social fabric of our city’s neighborhoods.
