Group Volunteer Request

Volunteer Groups and Partnerships for Parks
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for NYC Parks during this unprecedented time. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, parks have become more important than ever for New Yorkers; providing space for exercise, access to nature, and many other ways to cope. City parks have seen a dramatic increase in use during this crisis, and any help you can offer is greatly needed and appreciated. In order to most effectively support high need parks across the city, we are providing volunteer opportunities focusing on the most necessary tasks and will consider requests for specific projects on a case by case basis.

This request form is intended for individuals or organizations who are interested in connecting their group of 20 or more individuals, the majority of whom are adults, to hands-on, volunteer service opportunities in New York City’s green spaces. If your group is smaller in size, please take a look at our online listings to join a project.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

Please wear a mask if you are unvaccinated, if you cannot maintain social
distancing, or if it makes you feel more comfortable. (A face covering can include
anything that covers your nose and mouth including dust masks, reusable cotton
masks, scarves, and bandanas.)

Please read additional guidelines outlined in these volunteer guidelines.

Projects can be scheduled 7 days a week, between 9am-3pm, for a minimum of 2 hours. A 3 hour project is best.

3-6 weeks is required for most projects.

Group size

We are able to create personalized volunteer opportunities for groups of 20-30. Smaller sized groups will be encouraged to volunteer during public volunteer days. Larger groups will be asked to volunteer in shifts.

All youth must be supervised by responsible adult chaperones (we require a 1:5 adult to youth ratio). Most service projects are not appropriate for children under the age of 8.

Projects involve park beautification activities, which might include one or more of the following: litter pick-up and other debris removal, mulching, raking, or weeding. Planting and painting projects are sometimes available, but require a supply budget.

PfP is able to provide gloves, garbage bags, and reusable supplies, such as rakes, grabbers, and wheelbarrows for all projects. Painting and planting projects will require a donation.

All participants are required to sign our volunteer and photo release waivers.

Cancellation policy

We require at least a 24 hour notice to inform all involved staff and reallocate supplies accordingly. Failure to notify us within this time frame may impact your ability to plan future projects with PfP.

PfP is a joint program of City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks. All donations for supplies and administrative costs should be made payable to City Parks Foundation (501c3), and are 100% tax-deductible.

Please note: 3-6 weeks is required for planning most projects.

Keep in mind that projects must end by 3pm.
Minimum is 20 volunteers.
Breakdown of participants or additional information about volunteer numbers can be noted in Comments section below.

(We appreciate flexibility so that we can accomplish the highest priority needs across the city)

Please be specific.
