Taiwanese Waves returns to Summerstage and brings the pop stylings of its homeland stateside to Central Park, showcasing artists with distinctly disparate takes on the form. Multihyphenate Waa Wei has worked as an actress, author, and radio DJ; the singer-songwriter released Have a Nice Day, the latest of seven solo albums, in 2021. The Dinosaur’s Skin comprises the artists Trex and Triceratops, who perform wearing dinosaur heads. Their latest tracks offer a cheeky take on synth-pop, with songs like “Neck and Neck,” “Millions of Years Apart,” and “All My Friends Are Dead.” And DJ Mr. Skin, a longtime champion of Taiwan’s brand of Mandopop, brings his Mandarin Homework party to New York.
