In association with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), Central Park once again plays host to a celebration of Jewish heritage featuring a wide range of talent. Among the performers are Zalmen Mlotek, the conductor, pianist, musical arranger, accompanist, composer, and Artistic Director of the NYTF, the longest continuous running Yiddish theatre in the world; Frank London Klezmer Brass All Stars, a group of extraordinary brass musicians whose latest LP Chronika blends traditional Yiddish and Hasidic music and Klezmer with electronic beats; the renowned singer and Yiddish activist Joanne Borts, who made her 1991 Broadway debut in Fiddler on the Roof; Cantor Magda Fishman, a vocalist and veteran of the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s Soul to Soul SummerStage concert; Daniel Kahn, the Hamburg-based troubadour who mixes Yiddish, English, German, klezmer, punk, and folk; Lea Kalisch, a Swiss-born, NYC-bred Jewish singer, songwriter, and producer dubbed the “Eshet Chayil of Hip-Hop”; 11-year-old singer Yair Keydar; Daniel Mendelson, genre-spanning performing artist, cantor and powerhouse rock tenor on The Howard Stern Show; Daniella Rabbani, the actress, singer, and voiceover artist who has worked extensively with the NYTF; Eleanor Reissa, an actress, playwright, podcast host, and Tony Award-nominated director; Riki Rose, a singer, songwriter, and influencer who has appeared in dozens of Yiddish programs; Lorin Sklamberg, the singer and multi-instrumentalist who helped found the legendary group the Klezmatics in 1986; Steven Skybell, the Tony-nominated theater, film, and television actor who starred as Tevye in NYTF’s Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish directed by Joel Grey and is currently appearing on Broadway as Herr Shultz in Cabaret (Tony nomination); and Margot Weintraub, the young actress and singer known for roles in the Amazon series Hunters and Sarah Silverman’s Off-Broadway show The Bedwetter.
