MIKE’s Young World V: Roc Marciano & The Alchemist and more

Local hero MIKE has been steadily building a vibrant hip-hop community of like-minded souls at his annual Young World festival. This year the event returns to Herbert Von King Park in Bed-Stuy with ROC Marciano, a rare MC who spits rhymes with intricate wordplay and also produces his own music. His 2010 debut LP Marcberg is widely considered a hip-hop classic, Marci’s 2010 solo debut laid the groundwork for much of today’s rap underground. The inimitable auteur shows why he’s become the godfather of underground rap He’s joined by the Alchemist, a producer with a resume both long and distinguished (who can also rap). His career jumped off with early production on albums by Dilated Peoples, Mobb Deep, Nas, Jadakiss, and Prodigy; his list of collaborators now reads like a who’s who of talented rappers: Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Action Bronson, Freddie Gibbs, Earl Sweatshirt, Armand Hammer, and Roc Marciano himself, among many others.
