This bill of bracing indie rock bands promises to jolt you out of complacency. Headliner Horsegirl hails from Chicago, Illinois, and offers a scuzzy Gen-Z take on 90s alternative approved by their elders; their debut LP Versions of Modern Performance features contributions from Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley and Lee Ranaldo. Denmark’s Iceage, having honed their exceedingly stylish brand of moody post-punk for years, offer perhaps the most convincing rock star performance this side of a sports arena; their last LP Seek Shelter reached a high water mark for gothic grandeur. Brooklyn based Water From Your Eyes are likely the most unique band on the bill, making experimental pop music that’s pretty and violent, raw and indelible – layering loops and industrial beats with twinkling pop melodies that split the difference between catchy and off-kilter. Lifeguard shares both a Chicago scene and retro aesthetic with Horsegirl; their latest EP Crowd Can Talk is a head rush of fuzz and swirling riffs.
