With their group EPMD, Suffolk County, Long Island’s Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith helped define the sound of New York hip-hop in the late 80s and early 90s. The duo rocked a funk-heavy boom-bap style and a business-minded ethos—their name stands for Erick and Parrish Making Dollars, and each of their seven LPs feature the word. To celebrate NYC hip-hop mainstay Funk Flex’s birthday, the Golden Age legends will play their classic 1989 LP Unfinished Business in its entirety.
Food: Munch Hours (comfort food) and Sweet Milk & Sugar Desserts. Cuisines curated by Bronx Night Market
Community partners: Neighborhood Benches, Bronx Sole, Crotona Park Running Club, Bronx Borough President’s Office. Census outreach coordinated by the Association for a Better New York.
