In association with the Consulate General of Canada, SummerStage brings a pair of Canadian singer-songwriters with production chops to Central Park. Tamara Lindeman’s expansive folk project the Weather Station has been releasing quietly beautiful music for more than a decade. Their 2021 LP Ignorance—Lindeman’s contemplation on the climate crisis—represented an expansion of both their sound and their profile, fleshing out her carefully constructed melodies into full-throated expression supported by bass, keys, guitar, saxophone, flute, and two drummers. Their latest album Humanhood depicts the pain and pleasure of reconnecting with reality in the wake of dissociation. Katie Tupper rounds out the evening, embodying the boundary-pushing, genre-defying artistic work of artists in Canada. Her debut EP, Towards The End, received glowing acclaim from tastemakers like Zane Lowe and indie music press like Ones To Watch, Exclaim, Under The Radar, and FLOOD Magazine, and she is one of three participants selected to be part of the 2023 Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class.
