Featured speakers:

  • Steven Garibell, Vice President of Community Business Development, TD Bank

Steven Garibell is a TD Bank vice president who heads up the business development efforts for the LGBTQ+ community, with responsibilities not only for bringing the bank’s services to enterprises owned by members of the community but also working to ensure that TD is the top employer of LGBTQ+ professionals in the industry. In addition to this role, he is also helping develop the Community Business Development Officer Team with the goal of helping to be a trusted advisor for diverse business communities. He has spent over 20 years fostering banking relationships with the LGBTQ+ and diverse business community in New Jersey and New York. At TD, he is the co-chair for the Metro NY Regional Diversity Council and a member of the LGBTQ2+ Diversity Leadership Team working group for the US.

As part of his community outreach, he works to deliver business and community development into LGBTQ markets and diverse neighborhoods and leverages his skills and experience in professional networking through the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce. At NGLCC, he is a member of the Certification Committee that verifies that participating enterprises are LGBTQ-owned and operated. That certification, in turn, helps business owners gain access to supplier diversity initiatives at larger corporations and select City and State government offices looking to purchase the goods and services they offer.

Animating Garibell’s career is the belief that everyone should have a chance to be successful, no matter what their background is. Based on that view, he works to drive positive change through working collaborations that enrich the lives of the LGBTQ community and its talented entrepreneurs and small  business owners. He has been an honoree of City and State Responsible 100, Gay City News Impact Awards, City and States Pride Power 100, and City and States Bronx Power 50 and is featured in the inaugural edition of Crain’s Notable LGBTQ New Yorkers. An example of his community connecting work can be seen at his work with Lambda Vodka.

  • Marcus Gonzales, Vice President of Community Business Development, TD Bank

Marcus Gonzales has been with TD Bank since 2004, starting as a part-time teller. Throughout his tenure at TD he has held roles as a teller, customer service rep, administrative assistant, commercial loan rep, relationship manager and now as the community business development officer. His upbringing in Trinidad and Tobago helped drive his passion for working within the community, volunteering his time to help run college readiness programs for non-profit organizations, reading donated books to elementary school children and working on neighborhood farms to grow natural foods.

As TD Bank’s community business development officer, Marcus is even more focused on community advocacy and positively impacting diverse business communities. His 17+ years of banking experience has allowed him to become a trusted advisor with local business leaders and community organizations, partnering on financial empowerment.
