One of hip-hop’s most unapologetic artists, Azealia Banks’ house-infused sound and profane lyrics have garnered her respect and controversy in equal measure. A prodigious wordsmith and online lighting rod, Azealia Banks has been at the forefront of modern culture since her 2011 breakthrough single, ‘212’. Though making music since through humble internet beginnings and a stint with XL Recordings, it was the filth-pop masterpiece and her subsequent studio album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ where things really took off. That album cracked Billboard’s Hip Hop/R&B chart’s top five and kept her name on the tip of everyone’s tongue across the industry, ultimately collaborating with names like Pharrell Williams, M.I.A and Paul Oakenfold. On September 8, MeanRed welcomes this one-of-a-kind artist to a hometown SummerStage event that is sure to be the talk of the late summer.
