Returning to SummerStage to celebrate the sounds of Australia, THE AUSSIE BBQ showcases some of the best of the country’s emerging and established talent. Alt-rockers You Am I dominated the Australian charts in the 90s with their albums Hi Fi Way (1995), Hourly, Daily (1996) and #4 Record (1998); Indigenous rapper and dancer Baker Boy spits rhymes in both English and Yolŋu Matha; Electric Fields fuse electro-soul with vocalist/keyboardist Zaachariaha Fielding’s Aboriginal culture, with vocals in Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and English; Haiku Hands’ boisterous beats reflect an alternative take on four-on-the-floor dance jams; multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter G Flip, best known for their viral hit “About You,” wields loops and multiple tracks to sound like a massive band, all by themselves; and electronic DJ duo Peking Duk may have first gotten attention with a bootleg Passion Pit remix, but their hit “High” with Nicole Millar has since gone triple platinum in Australia.
