Since their 2010 debut full length Pickin’ Up the Pieces, Fitz and the Tantrums have made a conscious decision to make the biggest sounding records they could without guitars, eschewing the rock band default as they updated the classic sounds of Motown and Stax. Their biggest hit “HandClap” cracked the Billboard 100 singles chart and was featured on the soundtrack for the Microsoft racing game Forza Horizon 3. Their records have been described as party-starters, but they’ll bring the real party to Central Park with their high-energy live show. They’re joined by Andy Grammer, an adult contemporary singer-songwriter known for stadium-sized pop anthems meant to be shared at full volume. His 2015 LP Magazines or Novels hit number 19 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the multi-platinum single “Honey, I’m Good.”
