As part of a season-long partnership, independent performing arts organization Works & Process will collaborate with SummerStage to showcase the art of dance in this year’s season with special performances.
Additionally, Works and Process will feature a dance residency with Ladies of Hip-Hop Dance Collective, an all-female intergenerational group that creates dance works illuminating the strength, power, and diversity of women in hip-hop. These performances can be found at select shows throughout the season.

Ladies of Hip-Hop Dance Collective (LDC) is an all-female intergenerational dance collective that creates dance works illuminating the strength, power and diversity of women in hip-hop. Ever present in the work are the freestyle, cipher, and call-and-response aspects of the origins of street and club dance culture, while exploring the space of proscenium performance. Led by artistic director Michele Byrd-McPhee, LDC creates work that celebrates and centers feminist narratives examining the intersections of gender, race, and resistance.

Join us for a free dance workshop series with teachers from MasterZ at Work Dance Family, founded by legendary ballroom mother and Bed-Stuy native Courtney Washington. Learn Contemporary, House, Street Dance, and Hip-Hop. All levels are welcome.
See a company open rehearsal on July 10 as they prepare for the July 13 Works & Proces at SummerStage in Von King Park performance.
Join Harlem resident, MC and Rapper R.Q.Tek for a free four-part workshop to learn the
fundamentals of building raps and the art of MCing. Culminating the workshops will be a
chance for excelling students to perform on stage with R.Q.Tek on August 17 as part of
Works & Process at SummerStage in Marcus Garvey Park. Workshops held July 20, 27 and August 3, 10 from 4PM – 5:30PM.
