Cleveland, Ohio’s Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has made several career pivots once he was known as a rapper with a rapid-fire flow. The first, to acting, led to roles in films like Nerve, Bird Box, and Dirt, the Motley Crüe biopic in which he portrays Tommy Lee. Now, with his latest LP Tickets to My Downfall, he’s taken the Crüe influence to heart with a new rock sound, expanding on the pop-punk palette first seen on “I Think I’m Okay” his collaboration with Yungblud and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker from his last LP Hotel Diablo. He’s joined by the nascent talents jxdn, a 20-year-old TikTok talent from Chattanooga and KennyHoopla, a 24-year-old post-punk alt rapper (both of whom have recent singles featuring Travis Barker on drums).
