Planning
Three to six weeks is required for most projects.
Schedule
Our projects take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for a minimum of two hours (though a three-hour project is best).
Group size
We offer customized volunteer projects for groups of 20 people or more. Smaller groups should refer to open-to-the-public It’s My Park projects or can be connected to other group projects.
Youth
All youth must be supervised by adult chaperones (we require a 1:6 adult to youth ratio).
Activities
We offer hands-on beautification projects including litter pick-up and other debris removal, mulching, raking, or weeding. Planting and painting projects are sometimes available, and may require a donation to purchase supplies.
Supplies
We provide gloves, garbage bags, and reusable supplies such as rakes, grabbers, and wheelbarrows for all projects. Planting and painting projects typically require a donation to purchase supplies.
Waivers
All participants are required to sign our volunteer and photo release waivers.
Cancellation policy
We require at least a 24-hour notice to inform all involved staff and reallocate supplies accordingly. Failure to notify us within this timeframe may impact your ability to plan future projects with Partnerships for Parks.
Donations
Partnerships for Parks is a joint program of City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks. All donations for supplies and administrative costs should be made payable to City Parks Foundation and are 100% tax-deductible.
