A bastion of Jamaican music in New York City since its inception, VP Records stands at the nexus of Caribbean music in the United States. Founded in Jamaica, Queens in 1977 with roots reaching back to Kingston, the story of the label is woven into the story of Jamaican music itself, helping establish reggae, dancehall, and soca music in the mainstream, and working with reggae superstars like Sean Paul and Elephant Man. The label returns to Central Park in 2024 to celebrate their 45th anniversary.
