The Metropolitan Opera looks to inspire new generations of opera lovers and reach out to its most loyal fans in their communities with this free concert series, which has become one of the city’s most beloved summer traditions. This year’s concerts showcase several participants in the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program—including recent graduate Erika Baikoff, a soprano who previously appeared with the company in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro; mezzo-soprano Cierra Byrd, a third-year young artist who debuted during the 2021–22 season as Bertha in the Grammy-winning cast of Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones; and pianist and coach Juan José Lázaro, who is in his first year of the program following recent operatic engagements with San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program and Teatro Grattacielo—as well as baritone Thomas Glass, a winner in the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions who debuted last year at the Met in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
