SummerStage, Central Park
Rumsey Playfield, Manhattan, 10021
One of indie rock’s strongest new voices, Michelle Zauner showcases a diverse pop palette as Japanese Breakfast. Writing pretty pop songs about death and grief while wielding strings and AutoTune with equal aplomb, she brings a production both nuanced and cinematic in scope. With support from Australia’s Hatchie, a Pitchfork “Rising” artist with a spaced-out dream pop wall of sound whose debut LP, Keepsake (out June 21), floats as if carried by a cloud.
House of Nod will start the show off at 6pm.
