Catalan Sounds on Tour bring to Central Park a showcase of music straight from Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Valencia, three regions that share a common language, identity and culture. The singer Queralt Lahoz infuses soul, hip-hop, flamenco and dancehall crossed by Latin, roots, and urban sounds; formed by a Catalan, a Majorcan and a Valencian, the group Marala mixes tradition, poetry and fresh vocals with pop guitars and percussion; Barcelona’s Lia Kali makes moody, soulful rap music in conversation with jazz and reggae with a highly adaptive style, while DJ Trapella on the 1s and 2s will bring the tropical seaside vibes to Central Park with eclectic and inclusive sets.

Radio Primavera Sound Presents: The Weekly Review in New York, with Special Guests

In association with Institut Ramon Llull
Radio Primavera Sound, the official station of Barcelona’s famed Primavera Sound festival, arrives in New York with its flagship English-language show The Weekly Review. The show’s three presenters, plus two local guests (TBC) and leading Catalan artists to talk about their coming American gigs; their experiences in New York; their hopes and fears for the US; breaking the American market; life as a musician in Spain; the global success of Rosalía; mixing Spanish cultural tradition with modern pop production; and the strength of music in Catalonia, all with The Weekly Review’s trademark touch of irreverent humor. This will be an essential event for anyone with an interest in Catalan music, Spanish life, European culture and – just maybe – finding the next Rosalía. Look out too for tips on life in Barcelona, attending the Primavera Sound festival and touring Spain.
