Tap dance ambassador and native New Yorker Ayodele Casel, recently named one of the New York Times’ “”Biggest Breakout Stars of 2019,”” draws inspiration for her tap style from Puerto Rico’s salsa music. The actress, tap dancer, and choreographer will discuss her work, rooted in the expression of identity, culture, language, and communication, which she’s taken to such esteemed venues as Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, and the White House. She’s currently writing her next work at Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, where she’s been named a 2019-2020 fellow.
