Since its first performances in 1883, the Metropolitan Opera has been one of the world’s leading arts institutions, presenting more than 200 spectacular performances each year. As part of the Met’s ongoing efforts to nurture a new audience for opera throughout New York City, the company will again present its popular series of summer concerts in all five boroughs. The 11th season of free recitals begins on Monday, June 10, at SummerStage in Central Park, with an evening of arias and duets. The first two recitals feature audience favorites Nathan Gunn, Ben Bliss, and Ying Fang, while the four subsequent recitals showcase three exciting young artists—Leah Hawkins, Mario Bahg, and Joseph Lim. Members of the Met music staff will be at the piano to accompany each performance.
