DESCRIPTION:During the 2026 season\, the PuppetMobile will present a fresh take on the classic fairytale Pinocchio written by Julia Darden and directed by Bruce Cannon\, with set design by Zlata Godunova and costume design by Charlie DelRisco. \nIn this new telling\, Geppetto is a New York City kid with a talent for invention\, going as far as creating a robot friend in the form of Pinocchio. The story follows the pair as they tour around classic locales\, from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park to the Victorian Gardens Amusement Park\, and the hijinks they get into along the way.  \nThe production features hand-made marionettes crafted by Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre puppet builder Kevin White. In addition to the artistry of the production\, viewers will be treated to original songs written and orchestrated by Daryl Kojak performed by the marionettes.

DESCRIPTION:DIG+RIDE = FUN. Join NYCMTB on the First Saturday of each month to help\, build\, ride\, and maintain the trails at Wolfe’s Pond park in Staten Island. Volunteers help conduct our monthly trail inspection\, perform routine maintenance tasks\, such as litter pickup raking\, erosion control(digging) and signage maintenance. Volunteer hours start at 9:00am rain or shine. Optional group off-road mountain bike ride at 12:30pm on the trails (The Route: mostly beginner friendly; Distance: ~7 miles). Both groups meet at the Maintenance Shop in the Main Parking lot at Wolfe’s Pond Park: 475 Cornelia Ave Staten Island\, NY 10312.  \nVolunteers should meet outside of the NYC Parks Department building (look for painted leaf). \nFor more information\, please email avril@nycmtb.org.

DESCRIPTION:On March 14\, Friends of Mahoney Playground will host an It’s My Park (IMP) Day to kick off Phase 1 of the Green Fund “Roots & Blossoms” Native Plant Project. This event will focus on clean-up and ground preparation for a new native pollinator garden in Mahoney Playground in New Brighton. Volunteers will help remove litter and invasive growth\, clear and define garden bed areas\, layer cardboard for natural weed suppression\, and prepare soil with amendments to support healthy planting. This foundational work will prepare the site for upcoming native seed ball workshops and plug planting days that will engage youth\, families\, and seniors in hands-on environmental education. Roots & Blossoms is designed to increase pollinator habitat\, improve soil health\, and build climate resilience in an Environmental Justice community that is also considered a food desert despite neighboring major waterfront development. By restoring this underutilized space\, we aim to beautify the playground\, strengthen community stewardship\, and create an intergenerational teaching garden rooted in sustainability. Volunteer hours start at 9:00am rain or shine. Optional group off-road mountain bike ride at 12:30pm on the trails (The Route: mostly beginner friendly; Distance: ~7 miles). Both groups meet at the Maintenance Shop in the Main Parking lot at Wolfe’s Pond Park: 475 Cornelia Ave Staten Island\, NY 10312. \nVolunteers should meet in the big parking lot outside of the NYC Parks Department building.
