City Parks Foundation is launching a new registration platform through LeagueApps in 2023. When registering for a program, you will be prompted to create a profile for you and/or your family. This profile will be used when signing up for any CityParks Play programs moving forward. We encourage you to save your login credentials for future reference. Each spring and fall free weekly instruction is offered at Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem in partnership with the Randall’s Island Park Alliance. Our program introduces novice runners to cross country distance running through runs from East Harlem to Randall’s Island Park. Along the way, participants learn to pace themselves, proper technique, and receive periodic talks on good nutrition and healthy living habits. Beginners are welcome.
City Parks Foundation is continuing its partnership with the Life Time Foundation in 2023 which will expand opportunities for youth in our track and field program. Students will once again have the opportunity to enroll in a specialized program with a focused long-distance running curriculum and will have the chance to take part in a fun, family, fitness event including a dash through the finish line of the NYC Triathlon on Saturday, September 30. Free bus transportation (at select sites) to the race will be offered to students and their parents, which will be chaperoned by CPF staff. Registration is open to participants 6 – 17, currently enrolled in a CityParks Track and Field program.

The CityParks Track & Field program provides an introduction to the simple and beautiful sport of track and field and gives New York City kids the chance to learn the basics of the sport, from hurdles and relay races to long jump, shot put and javelin throw, while encouraging general fitness and healthy behaviors. A novice track meet for all participants is held at Icahn Stadium at the end of the summer.
