Lacoste Junior Tennis Academy Tryouts

The Lacoste Junior Tennis Academy is an annual scholarship training and educational  program for dedicated New York City juniors who wish to compete in local and national tournaments. The Academy aims  to develop character, leadership skills and self-confidence through the discipline of advanced tournament-training.



When: Saturday, May 18 3pm-6pm (rain or shine) Check-in will take place from 2-3PM

Where: USTA/ Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows Park, Queens

Requirements: NYC Residents 8-17 years old (US Citizenship Required)  Tennis shoes and racquet

  • Players should possess intermediate to advanced tennis skills, although players of all ability levels can test their skills at the tryouts.

  • The first round consists of an on-court evaluation of athletic ability and tennis skills by a staff of tennis professionals. Players will be asked to demonstrate the serve, forehand, backhand, volley and overhead and will be judged on their ability relative to their age.

  • Fifty players are selected each year to participate in the summer training program (July-August). Selection is based upon ratings in several categories including playing ability, personal interview and family income. In the fall, a select group of players will merit continued sponsorship from October to April based on sportsmanship, attendance, proven financial  need and on-court performance.

Select players from Round 1 will be  invited to the second and final tryout held the following day, Sunday, May 19.

I am the parent or guardian of this applicant.  I consent to allow my child to participate in the Junior Tennis Academy Tryouts program conducted by City Parks Foundation.   In consideration of the services of City Parks Foundation, as well as their agents, officers, participants, consultants, employees, and all persons or entities acting in any capacity on their behalf (hereinafter referred to as CPF), I now agree to release & discharge CPF on behalf of myself, my children, my parents, my heirs, assigns, Personal representatives and estate as follows:

1) I expressly agree and promise to accept and assume all risks existing in this program and inherent to the game of tennis, including but not limited to, the risk of my child being hit by an errant or misdirected tennis shot or coming into contact with another child’s racquet.  I acknowledge the activities of this program entail known & unanticipated risks, which could result in physical or emotional injury, paralysis, death or damage to my child, to property or to third parties. I understand that such risks cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the program activities. In an effort to minimize those risks I agree to follow all safety requirements and make use of any safety equipment provided. My child’s participating in this program is purely voluntary and I elect to allow my child to participate in spite of the risks.

2) I understand by signing this waiver I give permission for my child to receive emergency first aid treatment /CPR by Parks or CPF employees, agents, affiliates, sponsors, or other representatives. If my child requires emergency medical care and I cannot be reached, I give my consent to Parks to obtain the necessary medical care for my child which includes transportation by car or ambulance to an emergency center for treatment. I agree to pay all of the costs associated with the emergency medical care that my child receives. I understand that every effort will be made to contact me before and after medical care is provided.

3) Both my child and I agree that when he or she is participating in the Program, we will cooperate promptly and fully with all directions of CPF personnel. We also agree that we will follow all CPF and facility Rules and Regulations, and all applicable City, State and Federal laws, rules and regulations. We understand that  failure to behave appropriately may result in removal from the Program.


4) I grant CPF and its subsidiaries, the right to videotape, film, and photograph my child, and the right, in perpetuity, to use my child’s name, likeness, biographical information and voice in all forms of media (including the internet) in connection with CPF advertising and promotion.
