7:00 pm - 9:30 pm (Doors open 6:00 pm)
SummerStage, Central Park
71st St & East Drive, Rumsey Playfield, 10021
SummerStage is excited to collaborate with VOICES, a non-profit arts, education and social justice organization founded by Howard Zinn and Anthony Arnove, who together edited the book Voices of a People’s History of the United States, which brings to life the extraordinary history of ordinary people who built the movements for social justice in the United States, that made the United States what it is today, ending slavery, protesting war, creating unions, advancing women’s rights and LGBTQ liberation, and struggling to right wrongs of the day.
Join us on August 28, the 55th anniversary of the March on Washington, at this special event in Central Park featuring live readings and music in a celebration of resistance and radical struggle. By giving public expression to rebels, dissenters, and visionaries from our past—and present—SummerStage and VOICES seek to educate and inspire a new generation working for social justice.
