Founded by Doris Muñoz as a way to help raise money for those close to her to fight immigration battles, Solidarity for Sanctuary has evolved into an organization and series of events centered on education, grassroots organizing, and giving the immigrant and undocumented community a sense of solidarity and visibility. SummerStage has presented two consecutive years of highly attended, very successful Solidarity for Sanctuary events – in 2019 in Central Park and in 2020 virtually.

Doris Muñoz will be in conversation with artists KAINA and Linda Diaz and immigrant rights organizer and communicator Lucia, reflecting on continuing challenges for Latinx, immigrant, and undocumented communities as well as innovative ideas and initiatives to fight for social justice.  Following the discussion will be highlights from the 2020 SummerStage Anywhere performances by:

  • Mexican singer and songwriter of alternative pop and Tecate Carla Morrison
  • Singer and songwriter from the Lower East Side of Manhattan and winner of the 2020 Tiny Desk Contest Linda Diaz
  • Chicago-based experimental R&B and rock singer-songwriter KAINA
