Southbridge Towers Community Room - [follow signs]

Do you want to create events and programs in your local park that engage the community?

This workshop will help you re-imagine what is possible in your park. Learn about placemaking, the collaborative process of building community around a place, from Elena Madison, VP at Project for Public Spaces. She’ll explain what placemaking is, share examples of park groups who have developed interesting community based-programs, and lead you through an activity to help you apply these concepts to you park.

Additionally, artist Juanli CarriĆ³n will talk about his creation of Outer Seed Shadow #2, a Brooklyn-shaped garden in Fort Greene Park composed of plants chosen by local residents to represent their cultural heritage. Community leader Viva Morgan of Friends of Wingate Park will also share about how a book reading series she created in partnership with a local library has impacted her community.

You can register to attend here. For more information, please email relzinga@cityparksfoundation.org.
