SummerStage Anywhere Culture Talk with Crazy Legs and Grandmaster Caz
Friday, July 31, 2020
8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Lineup and format may be subject to change.
As an early member of the Rock Steady crew and current president, one of break dancing’s most illustrious and influential collectives, Richard “Crazy Legs” Colón is a towering figure in New York’s hip-hop community. Instrumental in the worldwide dissemination of hip-hop’s first pillar, he helped take the art form across the pond to Europe, and was featured in the classic films Wild Style and Style Wars, as well as break-dancing’s first big Hollywood moment, a cameo in the 1983 film Flashdance. These days he’s also an in-demand DJ, and schools heads both young and old on the origins of the b-boy and its essential role in the birth of hip-hop. He’ll be joined by Grandmaster Caz, Bronx-born rapper and hip hop DJ, in a live conversation discussing hip hop culture.
