Once dubbed “Africa’s premier diva” by TIME magazine, Angélique Kidjo is a stylistically fluid Beninese singer, actor, and activist that performs in five languages. Since her 1991 album Logozo—featuring Branford Marsalis, Manu Dibango, and Ray Lema—she’s addressed the global human rights issues of homelessness, integration, and environmental conservation. She’s joined by Amy Andrieux, the executive director of the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, professor at the New School University’s Parsons School of Design and a native New Yorker.
