Memberships purchased today or outside of the venue do not guarantee entry to tonight’s show. \nA sampling of Spanish-language pop hits Central Park\, in association with the Latin Alternative Music Conference. GRAMMY-winning Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas has been a mainstay of Mexican pop since her breakout 2003 LP Sí\, a lovestruck collection of sun-drenched hits that’s been described as “relentlessly perky.” She’s best known for the catchy pop found on that record and its follow-up Limon y Sal\, but the one-time member of ska band Tijuana No! debuted with the significantly edgier rock en español records Aqui and Bueninvento\, and has written songs for and performed with a wide range of Latin artists\, from Paulina Rubio and Mala Rodríguez to Miguel Bosé and Los Tigres del Norte. She’s joined by the Venezuelan singer and composer Lasso\, known for his brand of Latin pop\, rock\, and romantic ballads; his 2011 debut album Sin Otro Sentido made him an overnight star in Venezuela (and landed him a starring role in a TV soap opera). He would later win the Best Pop Rock Latin GRAMMY for “Ojos Marrones” in 2023.

But before Celia Cruz would dub her the “Princess of Salsa\,” she got her start in the South Bronx\, where she was a founding member of the Latin Freestyle group TKA\, and cut a solo record with Freestyle legends John “Jellybean” Benitez and her husband “Little” Louie Vega. After “Llegó La India via Eddie Palmieri\,” she blossomed into salsa royalty and never looked back\, going on to work with Cruz and Tito Puente\, and winning Best Salsa Album Latin GRAMMY for her album Intensamente India Con Canciones De Juan Gabriel. She’s joined by DJ Tony Touch of The Originals on the ones and twos.

By collecting what they called the “foundational” breakbeats – the very records DJs looped for breakdancers at the earliest hip-hop park jams and block parties\, they created not only an essential tool for DJs\, but also an accidental archive of hip-hop’s DNA. For this 40th anniversary celebration of the original compilation—of which only 25 volumes were released between 1986 and 1991— Breakbeat Lou is joined by members of the Bronx’s legendary Diggin’ in the Crates crew\, Lord Finesse and Diamond D. As pioneers of a distinct New York sound\, their work helped define the golden era of hip-hop production and lyricism that would soon resonate nationwide. Rounding out a line up filled with SummerStage alumni are Grand Puba and Sadat X of the acclaimed socially conscious rap group Brand Nubian; the iconic duo Nice & Smooth\, best known for their single “Hip-Hop Junkies\,” their feature on Big Daddy Kane’s “Pimpin Ain’t Easy\,” and their unforgettable appearance on Gang Starr’s “DWYCK”; and Peter Gunz\, whose collaboration with Lord Tariq\, “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)” became a late-90s anthem—sampling the unmistakable groove of Steely Dan. Completing the celebration is a set by DJ Boogie Blind\, known for his affiliations with the legendary X‑ecutioners as well as the Diggin’ in the Crates collective. Together\, these artists represent the culture\, creativity\, and crate-digging spirit that helped transform a DJ tool into one of hip-hop’s most influential musical documents. \nLive graffiti will be done on site by James Top\, Kingbee & Stem Ynn. \n  \nPre show panel: Free with RSVP  \nRock Steady \nOn the heels of Rock Steady For Life: Bringing Breakdancing to the World\, SummerStage hosts a monumental book event celebrating the global legacy of the Rock Steady Crew. The evening centers\non an intimate panel diving deep into hip‐hop history\, style\, survival\, and the untold stories behind Richard “Crazy Legs” Colón’s highly anticipated new book — a rare chance to experience the culture in conversation with the people who built it. \nRichard “Crazylegs” Colón – Panelist \nRichard “Crazy Legs” Colón is a Bronx-born Hip Hop pioneer and the longtime President of the legendary Rock Steady Crew. Widely celebrated as the most iconic Latino figure in Hip Hop history\, he helped elevate breaking to a global art form through his signature style and appearances in landmark films like Flashdance and Beat Street. His legacy is preserved in the Smithsonian Institution\, and he continues to educate worldwide as a member of the Cornell University Hip Hop Collection Advisory Board. Also a dedicated humanitarian\, he founded the Rock Steady For Life nonprofit for Puerto Rico relief. His highly anticipated book\, Rock Steady For Life: Bringing Breakdancing to the World (Rizzoli)\, releases in Fall 2026\, chronicling his unmatched journey with forewords by Big Daddy Kane and Russell Peters. \nLuis “Breakbeat Lou” Flores – Panelist \nEditor and extender of Ultimate Breaks & Beats (UBB)\, the iconic 25‐volume vinyl compilation series released between 1986 and 1991 on Street Beat Records\, created with Leonard “BreakBeat Lenny” Roberts. He’s a hip-hop institution\, a radio and club mainstay who has helped some of New York’s biggest artists and hits break out and continues to keep his finger on the pulse of hip-hop and R&B. The video for his 2016 song “Nyedzilo” was nominated for three WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards. Of the various figures in the red hot Argentinian rap scene\, none has shined brighter than Trueno\, the son of Uruguayan rapper Peligro and a veteran of the scene’s battle rap circuit. His early appearance on producer Bizarrap’s freestyle show BZRP Freestyle Sessions launched him to nationwide fame and helped establish the show as a chart-topping vehicle\, landing the pair at the number one spot on Argentina’s Hot 100. He’s since released several solo albums\, collaborated with the likes of Bad Gyal\, Feid\, and J Balvin\, and is responsible for one of the Argentinian rap scene’s biggest hits in 2020’s “Mamichula.” He’s joined by Milo J\, who leveraged his viral hit “Milagrosa” into collaborations with Nicki Nicole\, Duki\, and Peso Pluma; he also benefited from an appearance on Bizarrap’s YouTube series\, which led to the pair’s collaborative EP En Dormir Sin Madrid. His latest LP La Vida Era Más Corta saw him take a hard left turn into art-pop\, fusing Argentine folklore with urban and experimental sounds. Opening the show is the dynamic Dominican rapper J Noa\, a nimble-tongued MC with a rapid-fire flow who stunned the world at her NPR Tiny Desk performance\, her first outside of her own neighborhood in the Dominican Republic.

DESCRIPTION:For a century\, China Institute of America has been dedicated to deepening the world’s understanding of China. In celebration of their Centennial\, SummerStage brings two takes on the future sounds of Chinese pop to Central Park. The K-pop boy band NCT is so massive that it’s become its own ecosystem\, spinning off members into their own sub-groups that establish their own voice. WayV are the fourth such to spin off—and its first China-based collective—recording pop songs that fuse hip-hop and dance with R&B-stylized vocals sung in Mandarin since their 2019 debut EP The Vision. They’re joined by THE EITHER\, formed in New York in 2017. Their sound — Post-Orientalism — rebuilds Eastern elements for today\, blending electrified traditional instruments\, Chinese opera-inspired vocals\, progressive rock energy\, and compositions with a strong Eastern melodic identity into a bold\, future-facing performance. \n The Member RSVP Deadline for WayV (8/2) is Friday\, 7/31 @ 6pm. We will issue wristbands beginning at 11:00 AM on show day\, August 2\, 2026.  \nWhen are attendees allowed to line up?\nLines will open at 11:00 AM on August 2 at 72nd St & Fifth Ave. Wristbands will be handed out on a first-come first-serve basis. These bands will guarantee entry. Do not buy\, sell\, or transfer your wristband – they are free\, non-transferable\, and void if obtained off-site or tampered with.  \nOnce you receive your wristband\, keep it on and untouched all day. At 4:00 PM\, if you have a wristband\, you are permitted to come back and line up outside the venue for entry.
