SUMMARY:Pinocchio and Gepetto's Big Apple Adventure
DESCRIPTION:During the 2026 season\, the PuppetMobile will present a fresh take on the classic fairytale Pinocchio written by Julia Darden and directed by Bruce Cannon\, with set design by Zlata Godunova and costume design by Charlie DelRisco. \nIn this new telling\, Geppetto is a New York City kid with a talent for invention\, going as far as creating a robot friend in the form of Pinocchio. The story follows the pair as they tour around classic locales\, from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park to the Victorian Gardens Amusement Park\, and the hijinks they get into along the way. \nThe production features hand-made marionettes crafted by Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre puppet builder Kevin White. In addition to the artistry of the production\, viewers will be treated to original songs written and orchestrated by Daryl Kojak performed by the marionettes.

SUMMARY:Elderbrook / Tobiahs
DESCRIPTION:SummerStage Member Presale: Wednesday\, January 21 at 12PM \nCapital One Cardholder Presale: Wednesday\, January 21 at 12PM \nGeneral on-sale: Friday\, January 23 at 10AM \nA live phenomenon\, multi-instrumentalist\, producer and singer-songwriter Elderbrook has an innate flair for creating emotive music that explores the sensitive and introspective themes of identity and mental wellbeing. \nHe exploded onto the scene with 2017 global smash ‘Cola.’ The hit track\, a collaboration with CamelPhat\, sold over seven million copies worldwide\, earning him Grammy and Ivor Novello nods\, plus a coveted No.1 on the US Dance Airplay Chart. \nSince then Elderbrook has conceived two critically-acclaimed albums (2020’s Why Do We Shake in the Cold? and 2023’s Little Love). The former is an exploration of human connection\, while the latter LP took inspiration from his shift into fatherhood. Add to that his singles and collaborations\, and you have a formidable catalogue of timeless\, danceable compositions. \nSince exploding onto the scene in 2017\, Elderbrook has picked up over 1.5 billion global streams\, tours with Jungle\, Rüfüs Du Sol and Odesza\, and collaborations with Diplo\, Bob Moses\, Black Coffee and Rudimental. \nHe was one of the few UK acts who was able to tour extensively throughout the US in 2020\, and his fanbase has grown exponentially from that period up to now. Landmark gigs include a headline show at the iconic Red Rocks in Colorado and his showstopping performance on the Sahara Stage at Coachella\, plus numerous dates around the USA\, Australia and Europe. \nAll of which have earned him a revered reputation as a dynamic\, multi-faceted\, forward-thinking talent entering the next phase of his career stronger than ever. \n Tobiahs will support the evening.

SUMMARY:Tree Guards Part 1: Protecting Street Trees
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that tree guards can improve the health and longevity of NYC’s street trees? These physical barriers discourage people and pets from walking over tree beds\, thereby reducing the amount of waste\, root damage\, and soil compaction. Join this virtual workshop to understand the role that tree guards play in protecting street trees and how to get them installed. We’ll review DIY and professionally-installed options\, the permitting process\, and how to source and pay for materials\, along with a Q&A with urban forest experts. Featured speakers will include James Kaechele\, program manager at NYC Parks Tree Time; Maric Kusinitz\, Tree Planting program coordinator at Big Reuse; and Anneliese Zausner-Mannes\, Tree Team program director at Big Reuse. There will be a prize raffle for those who attend! \nRegistration for this session is required and will close the day before the event. You will receive information on how to join the webinar once you register.  \nInterested in a hands-on opportunity to continue learning? On Saturday\, June 27\, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.\, we’ll be hosting an in-person tree guard installation demonstration. This is a great opportunity to see what you’ve learned in the webinar take place in real life! Learn more and register here.

SUMMARY:Black Country\, New Road / Horsegirl / Sharp Pins
DESCRIPTION:Black Country\, New Road is a sextet of classically trained musicians from Cambridge\, England\, who’ve created a unique blend of jazz\, math rock\, and klezmer that turned the Brixton post-rock scene on its head even as live music took an extended pause during the pandemic. After scoring a nomination for the 2021 Mercury Prize with their debut LP For the First Time\, the band went through a lineup shakeup just days before the release of their second album Ants From Up There. The band retired the songs from their first two LPs and took brand new music out on tour\, with vocal duties inherited by the remaining band members\, resulting in the whimsical concert film and album Live at Bush Hall. They’re joined by SummerStage alums Horsegirl\, a New York-via-Chicago trio that takes musical cues from ’90s alt rockers; their latest LP Phonetics On and On was produced by the eccentric Welsh artist Cate Le Bon. Rounding out the bill is Sharp Pins\, the lo-fi power pop solo project from Kai Slater of the post-punk group Lifeguard\, who hail from the same youthful Chicago rock scene that produced Horsegirl\, formed while they were still in high school. \n\n  \nPRE-SHOW PANEL: WHAT DOES “INDIE” MEAN TODAY? SUMMARY:Laurie Anderson: Republic of Love with Sexmob
DESCRIPTION:Laurie Anderson is best known as an early pioneer of electronic music\, but her wildly diverse catalog of ambitious multimedia projects encompasses not only music but film\, visual projections\, dance\, and spoken and written word. Her early experimentations in composition and performance led to an accidental mainstream moment with her 1982 album Big Science and the hit single “O Superman\,” which she followed up with continual exploration and thoughtful provocations. She holds a number of honorary doctorates\, and in 2002\, was appointed the first artist-in-residence of NASA. Her latest album Amelia\, released in 2024\, comprises twenty-two tracks about the aviator Amelia Earhart’s tragic last flight. “Republic of Love” was first conceived after an invitation to do a two hour talk on the relationship of government and love from a festival in Vienna. It’s a collection of songs and stories about the current state of America\, with some history thrown in\, reexamining works such as “Big Science” and “Language Is a Virus.” Backed by Sexmob\, an instrumental jazz quartet that emerged from the Knitting Factory scene in the mid-’90s and known for raw improvisation and inventive arrangements\, Anderson’s performance also features the words and thoughts of many Americans such as Bob Dylan\, Lou Reed\, John Cage\, Gertrude Stein\, William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg. Anderson herself calls the work “a celebration of freedom.”
